"Boards are not social agencies, and it is not their job to create cultural diversity. Yet they are discovering that a diverse board helps generate better returns for shareholders." -- J. Veronica Biggins, Heidrick & Associates

Bringing Women onto Corporate Boards

Women on the Job believes that the more decision making influence women have at the top of a company, the larger and more positive an impact there will be for working women at all levels. Started in 2000, our “Where Are the Women?” project takes a practical, grassroots approach to increasing the numbers of women who serve on corporate boards by educating shareholders about the strong business reasons for boards to include women.

We encourage shareholders in every publicly held company to ask CEO’s, “Where Are the Women?” because diverse boards have a positive effect on the bottom line.  The Where Are the Women website includes a downloadable Shareholder Education Kit that makes it easy for shareholders (both men and women!) to take action.

If you would like more information about the “Where Are the Women” Project go to www.ionwomen.org and select the link to "Where Are the Women".  You can then download a WAW Shareholder Kit which contains labels designed specifically to be placed on proxy vote cards by shareholders.  These labels ask “Where Are the Women?"

Contact Us directly at Women on the Job if you have any questions on how to use the WAW Shareholder Kit.   Home
