Who We Are
For 26 years, Women on the Job has been working for women’s equal employment rights and opportunities. Advocacy and actions by Women on the Job’s Task Force coalition have achieved recognition and advancement for Long Island working women. With the commitment and creativity of co-founders Lillian McCormick and Charlotte Shapiro, this premier not-for-profit organization has been a forceful voice for change - opening doors for progress, particularly for women who work in female dominated occupations. From construction sites, corporate boardrooms and classrooms to clerical offices, hospitals and college campuses, our mission at Women on the Job is to help women remedy illegal gender discrimination. We hold government leaders, legislators and enforcement agencies responsible for compliance with laws for equal pay, equal opportunity and bias-free working conditions.
Women on the Job offers Long Island women resources, references, publications, guidance and Task Force support to help them solve workplace problems and learn strategies for progress.
