Port Washington, New York: June 15, 2007 – On June 5th, Women on the Job hosted Guest Speaker Marie Wilson, President of The White House Project at its’ Annual Meeting. An audience of close to 100 guests attended this year’s event to hear Ms. Wilson, author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World speak. Ms. Wilson made us aware of the challenges facing women in leadership positions in governments and all sectors of society as well as the importance of closing the leadership gap not just for the sake of fairness but for the larger social good.

Compelling research shows that when women sit at the table, they enhance the decision-making process dramatically. And yet, even as our nation is in a world spinning with crises, we have barely begun to tap our most critical natural resource—women. “This is an opportunity to hurry history, break barriers and mobilize—and to tell a woman you respect that she has the “right stuff” to run for political office such as a school board, city council or congress” emphasized Ms. Wilson as she inspires and encourages us as a richly diverse group of women to enter the leadership pipeline.
